On July 19 2004 Garmin released service Bulletin 0409 which was later adopted as a mandatory AD 2004-10-15.
The service bulletin applied to any GTX-330 with software 3.05 or older. To comply, the customer needs
to have the software updated to the most recent version 3.06. The cost of the software upload is paid by Garmin.
The customer needs to either ship the transponder to Penn Avionics for update, or stop by with
the aircraft. The upload takes about 1/2 hour.

Procedure to check your software level

When power is first allied to the GTX-330, the start-up screen will display the Garmin logo and the software version.

After about 5 seconds the screen will switch to the squawk code screen.

1) Power up your GTX-330 and note the software version on the first screen. If it says V3.05 or lower (ie 3.04, 3.02, 3.0) , you

need to have your unit updated.

2) Call Penn Avionics to schedule an appointment.  The procedure takes about 1/2 hour and the cost is covered by Garmin.
